The Faculty of Social Sciences consists of five institutes: The Institute for Political Science and the Institute for Sociology are among the largest university institutes in their respective fields in Germany. They are complemented by the newly founded Institute for Socioeconomics, which enriches political science studies with a socio-economic perspective, and two social science research institutes: The Institute for Work and Qualification (IAQ) is renowned internationally for its studies on labor and education research. The Institute for Development and Peace (INEF) is the only German research institute that addresses issues at the intersection of development and peace. All five institutes are strong in research and closely networked through a wide range of research activities.
